Marquette Basketball Legend Steve Novak Hits Walk-Off Homerun to Win Charity Softball Game
Marquette basketball legend Steve Novak hit a walk-off homerun to seal a thrilling victory for Marquette in a highly competitive charity softball game against University of Wisconsin athletes. The Marquette vs. Wisconsin Charity Softball Slam debuted at Wisconsin Company Brewing Park on Sunday, July 14th, featuring current stars and legends from each respective university.
The players on both sides approached the game with a competitive spirit. The game began with evenly matched action between the two teams. Team Wisconsin pushed the game into the bottom of the 7th inning with a home run by Travis Beckum, bringing the score to 8-7 in favor of Wisconsin. However, Steve Novak clinched the game for Marquette with a two-run homerun in the bottom of the 7th, securing the victory for Team Marquette.
The event was emceed by Bally Sports’ Stephen Watson and WKOW’s Sports Director, Karley Marotta.
The game supported the Brewers Community Foundation, the Wisconsin Athletic Hall of Fame Foundation, and the LC Dockhounds Foundation.

OCONOMOWOC, WI – In a new look at a historic rivalry, the Wisconsin vs. Marquette Celebrity Softball Slam presented by Bank Five Nine will be held on Sunday July 14th 2024. Legends, celebrities, and Student-Athletes from both universities will participate in the game at Wisconsin Brewing Company beginning at 6:00pm.
